The Last Poppy
Watching the report of weather over most of the U.S. made me very grateful today. I was able to spend time hand piecing out in the studio without having to endure the temperature falling 40 degrees or a foot of snow covering the ground.
Instead I was able to contemplate this remnant of summer, this last Matilija Poppy. It floats 6 feet tall amidst the leafy green of a ceanothus in view of my studio window, a reminder that summer was not that long ago. Lucky me.
